No one would dare walk their first red carpet sans makeup–they need help from a beautician to enter the public eye in the best way possible. Special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) are the beauticians for private companies. SPACs are publicly traded corporations with a two-year lifespan. SPACs only exist to merge with a privately held business to help it go public.
This is the bread and butter of Churchill Capital, which employs a unique investment model for public equity vehicles, blending a preeminent advisory firm with proven public company expertise. The company has a long-term investment outlook for their partners, providing strategic guidance and access to our network of experts in a variety of disciplines.
Churchill Group has worked with e9digital over the last few years because of our professional expertise in creating websites for SPACs, which have grown in popularity–in the past 10 years, SPACs have made up about 42% of total U.S. IPOs. Rules must be followed: each SPAC site requires specific pages so certain information is readily available to investors. For example, they must post financial statements on their website so investors can analyze the data.
Designing websites that are by the book for SPAC regulations
The main purpose of a website for an SPAC is to create a hub for information that’s easy for investors to access. SPACs must follow SEC regulations and exchange rules that outline the type of content that can be shared on a website, when it can be shared, and how it can be shared. Our designers have created many SPAC websites with a numerical naming convention (we’re now up to number 9!). Churchill needs a new SPAC for each venture, so numerical naming keeps things simple.
When creating Churchill Capital IX, our website designers:
- Duplicated the design from existing Churchill Capital Sites.
- Rewrote the content to reflect the needs of the new venture.
- Deployed and now maintain the site so investors can always have access.
Building a navigable UX for easy investor access
Churchill Capital has a specific target audience, investors who need to access critical information, so the homepage looks a little different than the standard e9digital site. However, the top menu follows our best practices, meeting SEC regulations and ensuring investors can find anything they need.
- The logo is positioned at the top left so investors know they’re in the right place immediately. Plus, when they click on the logo, it takes them back to the homepage.
- An about page to highlight the company and their expertise.
- Team and board of directors pages to showcase their depth of experience.
- A news section to outline important press releases and company milestones.
- A contact page for media relations and any other inquiries.
This is very similar to the regular e9 checklist, but an SPAC site like this differs by:
- Including an investor resources area with easy access to SEC filings and corporate governance.
- Leaving the homepage as a single image with a simple footer. Most of their website visitors are investors, so it was more important to create a navigable menu to help them access the interior pages.
