He flipped the script. He hired the best people he could find and set them up in his apartment. Six desks filled the living room. Every morning, his wife Gina left for work while the team clocked in at 9 a.m. At night, they packed everything down, watched TV, and reset the space for the next day.
For Conrad, real estate was irrelevant. Talent was everything. And when it came to technology, he drew a hard line: while others leaned on shortcuts like ColdFusion, he built with Java. Why? Because only serious programmers use a serious language. It was a built-in filter for quality.
