Showstopping Disruption

Capturing the Pulse of the Beat

Freestyle Love Supreme. Ever heard of this freestyle hip-hop group that launched in 2004? Well, there’s a strong chance you know one of the group’s founding members and current producer. The Tony, Emmy and Grammy award-winning Broadway actor/writer/producer Lin-Manuel Miranda—best known for his shows “Hamilton” and “In the Heights.”

The main event

Now, the improv hip-hop troupe is back for a limited off-broadway run. To help announce their comeback, their management team, Baseline Theatrical, came to our New York-based agency. Needing a speedy turnaround, we quickly got one of our top designers on the job. We needed to build a site that functioned as both a simple marketing tool and a way to sell tickets. Design-wise, it needed to convey the fun, unique experience of the show, while matching the high level of talent and creativity of the group.

A good rap

“Thank you! That was great, and the site looks spectacular.”James Hickey | Assistant General Manager, Baseline Theatrical

A banner image showcasing a striking photo of the performers immediately drew in visitors and told them everything they needed to know, while still inviting them to scroll down the page. For those who know exactly why they came, a “View Show Dates” button anchors directly down the page to a responsive calendar that drives ticket sales. For the more exploratory visitor, the site scrolls through engaging content, including show info, performers, guest performers, and more—all highlighted by images of the group overlaid with the brand colors and design elements.

Despite the quick turnaround time, our web design team was able to pull off a clean and functional landing page. It accomplished exactly what the show and its fans needed – an easy way to access information and tickets, while still enjoying an engaging online experience.
